PA6 resin is compounded and typically extruded (rather than injection molded) into filament or monofilament form for rope and cordage use.
Manufacturing Process for This Application
Rope and cordage products are extruded from PA6 pellets into continuous filament, drawing on the resin's high flexibility and elasticity and low flexural modulus to produce a pliable, knot-friendly cord.
Why Polymer Choice Matters Here
A rope needs to flex and knot repeatedly without cracking or losing tensile strength — a stiffer or more brittle polymer would be unusable in continuous filament form for this purpose.
