What Is It?
NEXXALON™ Unfilled Compound is a heat-stabilized, nucleated PA6 resin with no fiber or mineral reinforcement, formulated for fast molding cycles with excellent dimensional control straight out of the mold.
How It's Manufactured
The base PA6 resin is compounded with heat stabilizers and nucleating agents on a twin-screw line, then pelletized. Because there is no reinforcement to disperse, the compounding step focuses on additive distribution and consistent pellet quality rather than fiber handling.
Manufacturing Process for This Application
Door handles are injection molded from dried PA6 pellets (polyamides absorb ambient moisture and must be pre-dried to avoid splay and brittleness). The unfilled grade's high flow lets it fill the long, thin-walled handle geometry without requiring excessive injection pressure, and its elasticity allows the part to flex slightly under grip load without cracking.
Why Polymer Choice Matters Here
A door handle needs enough flexibility and impact resistance to survive repeated pulling, occasional impacts, and years of outdoor temperature swings — a rigid, brittle polymer would crack at the mounting points over time. A reinforced grade would resist flex better but add stiffness the ergonomic handle shape does not need, along with a rougher surface finish that shows glass fiber "read-through" under paint.
