Which Compound to Use to Manufacture a Mobile Charger Casing

What Is It?

NEXXALAC™ Flame Retardant Unfilled PC/ABS Compound adds a non-halogenated FR-V1/V2/V0 additive package to the standard PC/ABS blend.

How It's Manufactured

The FR additive package is melt-blended into the PC/ABS resin blend on a twin-screw line, formulated to preserve the anti-dripping behaviour that is essential once mains-voltage electronics are involved — a burning or dripping housing next to a live circuit is precisely the failure mode this grade is designed to prevent.

Manufacturing Process for This Application

Charger casings are injection molded from the dried FR PC/ABS compound, typically in black. Wall thickness at the sections nearest the internal transformer or switching circuitry is designed to hold the certified V0 rating at that exact thickness, since flammability certification is thickness-specific.

Why Polymer Choice Matters Here

A mobile charger converts mains voltage internally and generates real heat in normal operation — a housing without flame retardancy is a genuine fire-safety gap regardless of how good its impact strength or surface finish otherwise are, which is why this is a mandatory, not optional, property for this application.

Why This Compound Is Suited

This grade is explicitly specified for "Automotive interior parts, Electrical switches, Printers, Computer and Laptop parts, Tele communication parts, Mobile charger" — mobile chargers are a direct, listed application requiring exactly this flame retardant profile.

Nexxa Compounds is a leading manufacturer of PC/ABS compounds for mobile charger casing applications in India, supplying some of the largest manufacturers across India and internationally.
