Which Compound to Use to Manufacture a Car Headlight Bezel

What Is It?

NEXXALITE™ Mineral Filled PBT / PET Compound blends PBT and PET resins reinforced with roughly 20% mineral filler, chosen for excellent surface appearance and low shrinkage.

How It's Manufactured

Mineral filler is compounded into the blended PBT/PET resin base on a twin-screw line, with the two base resins and the filler processed together to balance PET's contribution to surface appearance against PBT's faster crystallization and easier processability.

Manufacturing Process for This Application

Headlight bezels and mirror covers are injection molded from the dried compound. These are visible cosmetic trim parts positioned directly next to a heat-generating headlight assembly, so mold design targets both a defect-free visible surface and stable dimensions under that sustained proximity heat.

Why Polymer Choice Matters Here

A bezel positioned next to a headlight experiences real, sustained thermal load from the lamp itself, in addition to under-hood and outdoor temperature swings — a compound without adequate thermal and dimensional stability would warp or discolor at that mounting location over the vehicle's service life.

Why This Compound Is Suited

This grade is used "whether High thermal stability and dimensional stability required," which is precisely the demand a headlight bezel places on its material, and it is explicitly listed as an application.

Nexxa Compounds is a leading manufacturer of PBT/PET compounds for car headlight bezel applications in India, supplying some of the largest manufacturers across India and internationally.
