Which Compound to Use to Manufacture a Mixer Body
What Is It?
NEXXALAC™ Unfilled ABS Compound is an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene resin valued for its rigidity, surface gloss, and impact strength without any added reinforcement.
How It's Manufactured
ABS is compounded on a twin-screw or single-screw line with color and stabilizer additives, then pelletized. Because ABS is not hygroscopic the way polyamides are, it does not require the same aggressive pre-drying discipline before molding, which is one practical reason it is a common first choice for consumer appliance housings.
Manufacturing Process for This Application
Mixer bodies are injection molded from ABS pellets at moderate mold temperatures, with the mold surface finish and gate design chosen to preserve the high gloss and scratch resistance the material is capable of — a visible consumer product surface defect here is a cosmetic reject, not just a functional one.
Why Polymer Choice Matters Here
A mixer housing is handled constantly, wiped down, and occasionally dropped, and it needs to look good doing it — a polymer with poor surface aesthetics or scratch resistance fails the product on shelf appeal alone, regardless of mechanical performance, which is why ABS's combination of impact strength and cosmetic finish is chosen over tougher but duller alternatives.
Why This Compound Is Suited
ABS's high rigidity, excellent surface finish and gloss, high scratch resistance, and good flow for thin sections is exactly the combination consumer appliance housings like a mixer body need, and it is explicitly listed among this grade's applications.
Nexxa Compounds is a leading manufacturer of ABS compounds for mixer body applications in India, supplying some of the largest manufacturers across India and internationally.
