What Is It?

How It's Manufactured

Mineral filler is compounded into PP resin on a twin-screw line — mineral filler's even, non-directional dispersion behaviour in PP is what gives this grade its characteristic high-gloss surface finish after molding.

Manufacturing Process for This Application

Speedometer housings, mud guards, and cooler body panels are injection molded from the dried, mineral-filled compound, taking advantage of the grade's high flow and excellent processability to fill the housing's often-curved, cosmetically visible surface.

A speedometer housing needs a clean, glare-free visible surface and enough impact resistance to survive vibration and minor road debris impact, without the added cost of glass fiber reinforcement this cosmetic, moderately-loaded part does not actually need.
